A solid blend of syrah, cabernet sauvignon and merlot with some sage and stone undertones. Medium-to full-bodied, juicy and slightly chewy. Shows tension and verve. Drink or hold

Allegrini Poggio al Tesoro Mediterra Toscana 2020
Mediterra, a skillful blend of Syrah 40% - Merlot 30% - Cabernet Sauvignon 30%, expresses intense and deliciously spiced fruit. The wine is distinguished by a pleasant note of salinity, thanks to the proximity of the vineyards to the sea. Grown in a region of great enological prowess, the wine’s aromas are a perfect reflection of its Mediterranean origin.
The flavour of Mediterra fully reflects the characteristics of Bolgheri, displaying an extraordinary harmony between the freshness of its aromas and its warm, powerful flavours. The spicy note lent by the Syrah varietal makes the wine intensely enjoyable as well as easy to drink.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red in colour with purple tints, this is a fragrant and intensely fruity wine, in which blackberry, plum and cherry are underpinned by spicy notes of white pepper and elegant herbaceous aromas. On the palate, it is fresh, intense, and surprisingly persistent.

Poggio Al Tesoro
Bolgheri, Italy
Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro is an Italian wine estate situated in the Bolgheri district of the Tuscan coast. The 70-hectare (173-acre) estate is owned by the well-known Allegrini family winemaking dynasty and produces a portfolio of several Toscana IGT and Bolgheri wines, including a single Bolgheri Superiore wine: Sondraia.
The estate consists of four vineyard sites in Bolgheri: Via Bolgherese, Le Grottine, Valle di Cerbaia and Le Sondraie. These vineyards are predominantly planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which thrive in the largely sandy, stony soils. The more clay- and mineral-rich soils are particularly suited to the cultivation of Merlot. This is supplemented with additional plantings of Petit Verdot, Syrah, Vermentino and Viognier.
The Sondraia Bolgheri superiore wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon-predominant Bordeaux blend, with smaller quantities of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. These grapes are hand-harvested from the Via Bolgherese and Le Sondraie vineyards and the wine aged for 18 months in 50 percent new French oak barriques.
Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro also makes several single-vineyard offerings, including Solosole, a varietal Bolgheri Bianco Vermentino wine; Cassiopea, a Rosato di Bolgheri blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc; and Mediterra, a Toscana IGT red wine blend.
The most notable of these single-vineyard wines is, however, the varietal Cabernet Franc named "Dedicato a Walter". This wine is named after Walter Allegrini, a member of the Allegrini family who own the Tenuta Poggio al Tesoro estate.
