One of their best efforts ever (and that says something, given how many fine wines have been produced under the Bacio Divino moniker), the 2013 Bacio Divino, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (sourced from four different vineyards) and Sangiovese (from the Benessere Vineyard in St. Helena), is a beautifully complex wine with big, sexy notes of new saddle leather, blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, silky tannins, a full-bodied, voluptuous texture and lots of personality and glycerin-filled fruit. This is a beauty to drink over the next 7 - 8 years. October 2015

Bright and brilliant dark fruit with black currant, blueberry and dark chocolate character, yet tight and focused. Full body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Better in 2018. May 3 2016

A Cabernet-heavy blend with 7% Sangiovese and 3% Petit Verdot, this wine marks the twentieth vintage of the producer's flagship wine, sourced from both its estate Cloudy's Vineyard and several Beckstoffer heritage sites. Black and green olives dance on the nose and palate first, followed by a concentration of cedar, pencil lead and black tea. It's powerful without being overly concentrated. July 2016
2013 Bacio Divino
"An Artful Red Wine"
Divine Kiss
A sensual evocation of terroir and personal passion, this renowned Cabernet expresses what our small napa winery is all about. Enriched by fruit from the heralded Beckstoffer Heritage Vineyards, the heady spice-market aromas and sumptuous flavors become even more episodic over time. Enjoy the divine kiss of this our signature wine.
2013 was a banner year for Cabernet in Napa Valley. In this vintage we have created a truly unique wine that Cabernet devotees as well as those who appreciate “artful” blends can enjoy. Dark black fruit and leather aromas, reinforced with elegant oak features, dominate in the first waft from the glass. This wine exhibits a deep and full-bodied build with an exceptionally long yet elegant finish. Most noticeable in our signature blend are the fine silky tannins of the Valley floor. Good acidity with strong tannic structure leads us to believe this wine will age incredibly well for the next 10-15 years. July 2016

Bacio Divino Cellars
Bacio Divino Cellars (meaning Divine Kiss in Italian), was founded by Claus Janzen in 1993 who first became interested in wine as a self appointed “ski bum” while working at an upscale restaurant in Switzerland during the ski seasons.
He was 19 years of age when he became a wine enthusiast/collector and started developing what has become an incredible palate. This refined palate is now very important as he makes all their final blending decisions.
A non wine related career took hold until he took what he thought would be a simple relaxing tourist trip to the Napa Valley to visit wineries. On that trip, he met the Wagner’s (owners of Caymus Winery) who invited him to work an upcoming harvest. After this harvest in the ensuing years he ended up spending 12 years working at Caymus developing their International marketing program.
Claus is the winemaker for Bacio Divino and also uses prominent Cabernet Sauvignon master Kirk Venge as his consulting winemaker. Bacio Divino owns three, 8-acres in total, hillside vineyards located in a fairly remote location in the Dutch Henry Canyon east of the Silverado Trail. Their vineyard location is well off of the Silverado Trail – in a secluded part of the valley, a rare landscape not often seen by visitors to the valley.
Bacio Divino produces three blends, the original Bacio Divino (Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese & Petite Sirah), Pazzo (a 5-varietal blend), and Vagabond, a Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon blend. In addition they produce 2 vineyard designated wines simply called Janzen; one from their own vineyard and one from the famed Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. All their wines consistently receive excellent ratings by Robert Parker as well as other well-known wine critics.
Their Janzen label has already been called one of the “20 new Cabernet Sauvignon labels to watch” by the Wine Spectator. One of their philosophies is you can drink wines young.
