Beringer Bros. Spirit Barrel Aged Wines
150 years ago, brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer left Germany to found a winery and distillery in Napa. Reusing their spirit barrels to age wine just seemed like good financial sense, but they quickly discovered it added a whole new level of complexity. Today, we honor Jacob and Frederick’s pioneering spirit by aging Beringer Bros. wines in spirits barrels. Enjoy smooth, robust wines with flavors of vanilla, toasted hazelnuts, and caramel – a glimpse of Beringer’s past.
Beringer Bros. Bourbon Barrel Aged
Red Wine Blend 2017
150 years ago, Jacob and Frederick Beringer were pioneers of a new age, making their way across the frontier to plant their first vines in Napa Valley. Today, we remain true to their bold, pioneering spirit with Beringer Bros. Bourbon Barrel Aged Wines. Our latest varietals are aged for sixty days in charred, American oak bourbon barrels. The result: a uniquely rich, warm, and bold flavor.

Tasting Notes
This wine is bursting with aromas of ripe blackberries, roasted hazelnuts, and caramel. With intense concentration bolstered by Petit Verdot, this full-bodied wine has a creamy mouthfeel with ripe tannins and integrated acidity. The lingering finish boasts notes of toasted coconut, violet, and black cherry.
Winemaking Notes
Beringer Bros. Red Blend is picked at the peak of flavor development from top sites across California and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. 20% of the wine is aged for 60 days in second-pass charred American Oak barriques which previously held Bourbon.
Beringer
California's Oldest Continually Operating Winery
Passion has the wonderful power to turn mere objects into an obsession, to transform everyday tasks into art. At Beringer, we have been living our passion for over 141 years.
Our history dates back to the year 1868, when Jacob Beringer, enticed by the opportunities of the new world, sailed from his home in Mainz, Germany, to New York. However, after hearing that the rocky hillside soil and fertile valley floor resembled that of vineyards back home in Germany, Jacob made his way to the Napa Valley. Jacob and his brother Frederick purchased 215 acres of land in 1875, and became one of the first wineries in Napa Valley.
Beringer is known for establishing many 'firsts' as leaders in the wine industry. We were one of the first gravity fed facilities and among the first to operate using hand-dug caves and cellars. We were the first to give public tours in 1934, starting a Napa Valley hospitality tradition. We are the first and only winery to have both a red and a white wine named #1 Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator Magazine.
We have honed, deepened, and expanded the art of winemaking. We pursue balance between modern technology and time-tested winemaking traditions, resulting in wines of global recognition.
