Plum, mushroom and bark aromas with some wet earth. It’s medium-to full- bodied with round, medium-chewy tannins that are polished and creamy in nature. Vivacious tannins. Very young and delectable at the same time. Try after 2025.

The Merlot-dominated 2019 Château Petit-Village (there's 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) is stunning stuff, and I'd wager the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted. A deep purple color is followed by awesome notes of blackcurrants, barbecue smoke, chocolate, crushed violets, and spice. This carries to a full-bodied, opulent Pomerol with silky tannins, beautiful balance, and a great finish. It pushes firmly on the ripeness pedal yet holds it together and is one sexy, gorgeous wine to drink on release and over the following 15 years. 92-94+ (6/2020)

In 2019, Petit-Village is outrageously beautiful. Rich, vivid and so complex, the 2019 is also one of the best wines I have tasted here in a number of years. On the palate, the 2019 is ample and inviting, with layers of dark fruit that unfold over time. Hints of licorice, new leather and sweet pipe tobacco add aromatic nuance as this distinctive Pomerol shows off its undeniable charm. Tasted two times. (AG) (6/2020)

Attractive aromas of plums, currants and spices introduce the 2019 Petit Village, a medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and enveloping wine with a fleshy core of fruit, succulent acids and polished tannins. Gourmand and generous while remaining nicely balanced, this is a fine effort from an improving château. Best After 2023

The Vintage
The 2019 growing season began with cool and humid days, followed by an extremely hot summer. The adaptability of the vines to the climatic conditions of the vintage proved to be excellent. The warm days and cool nights allowed the grapes to reach perfect maturity. The harvest took place between September 18 and October 2.

Highlights
Until the beginning of the 19th century, the cultivation of vines was not common in Pomerol and the wine history of Château Petit-Village did not begin until that time. Château Petit Village is located in the heart of Pomerol.
Aware of the enormous potential of the Petit-Village terroir, Christian Seely, General Manager of AXA Millésimes, is carrying out important works in the vineyards and buildings. Château Petit-Village is a vineyard located on the most interesting part of Pomerol, on a clay subsoil. Its terroir is composed of deep gravel coated with light clay and sandy on a subsoil of alios called iron grime, characteristic of the Grands Vins de Pomerol. Each terroir has a specific grape variety that best matches the type of soil. In Petit-Village, Merlot predominates (75%). With Cabernet Sauvignon quite original with 17% and also 8% of Cabernet Franc. With a vineyard of 10.5 hectares, all in one piece, the annual production of 3,500 crates is quickly taken by the local faithful who appreciate its voluptuousness and silky tannins.
At the tasting, the wine presents a real complexity of aromas, a long and delicate finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon helps to give a structure to the aging wine.
