Fourth generation Gilles Gaudron took over the family domaine in 1993. Comprising of 50 separate, small parcels of vineyards, the estate is planted on limestone-clay soils spread over 27 hectares with closely spaced goblet-pruned vines, the majority of which are older than 30 years of age and are hand harvested.
Still aided by his father Sylvain, Gilles produces top quality, traditional Vouvrays with intense pure fruit characters and striking terroir expression. The atmospheric, naturally temperature-regulated cellars date back over 700 years and include 1,000 metres of tuffeau galleries. Fermentation is long and slow with natural yeasts.

This Domaine Gilles Gaudron Vouvray Les Vaux Louis Sec is a dry style made from 30 year old Chenin vines. It is rich and juicy on the palate with notes of pear and quince enhanced by an intense chalky minerality. Relatively easy going, and an excellent food match.

Vouvray Wine
Vouvray (“voo-vray”) is a white wine made with Chenin Blanc grapes that grow along the banks of the Loire River in the Touraine district of France. Wines range in style from dry to sweet, and still to sparkling, each with its own distinct character. Regardless of style, Vouvray is loved for its delicate floral aromas and boisterous taste that will pucker your lips and make you immediately wish for another sip.
The Vouvray Appellation
The Vouvray appellation wine growing area is located on the banks of the Loire river, upstream from Tours, in the famous valley of the French kings.
The vineyards are planted on slopes with chalky clay and siliceous clay soil, over a total area of 2,200 hectares (5,400 acres).
Domaine Sylvain Gaudron
Since about 1890, four generations of the Gaudron family have lived in Vernou, running a vineyard.
About the two-thirds of the vines are at least thirty years old on average.
All the vines grown in the Vouvray appellation area are of the Chenin variety, also known as Pineau de la Loire.
A few still wine vintages are stored in oak casks for several months to give them their characteristic flavour.
When you come to the estate, the welcome in the wine storehouse, the visit to the cellars in the rock that go back to the 13th century (1,000 m of galleries), the commentaries and the free tasting session will help you to appreciate the aromas and flavours of our wines.
