This is instantly appealing on the nose showing grapefruit, crunchy apple and nectarine characters with a hint of sweet raspberry.  The palate delivers terrific fruit intensity and vibrancy, combined with fine texture and bright acidity, finishing delightfully long and refreshing.  At its best: now to 2022. – S.K.

Sud De France Rose 2019

 

Sarah Jessica Parker’s first ever wine was perfected in May 2019 when Invivo founders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron travelled to New York City to create her new Sauvignon Blanc.  They brought samples of the 2019 vintage, harvested in April.  Over a three hour session, SJP and the Invivo team finalized the proportions from each vineyard to create the exact blending recipe used in the wine.  In December 2019, the team met again to blend a rosé wine, “Blending the rosé was an experience I never thought I would be participating in and was not only great fun but, as always with my partners at Invivo, informative, surprising, delicious and wonderfully satisfying.” stated Sarah Jessica Parker.

 

The X and the comma directly after it are an intentional and personal touch, referencing her signature email and Instagram post signoff:  “X, SJ.”  Sarah Jessica also hand‑painted the X on the original label.  As with the Sauvignon Blanc, she has taken inspiration from one of her colourways for the Rosé – this time ‘Pewter Stardust,’ which we think matches our blend perfectly.

 

Tasting Notes

 

A gorgeous shade of blush pink in the glass, the aroma profile invokes clear rose petals and bright summer berry characters, wrapped in a minerality that makes this wine exceptionally fresh.  It’s a wine that can be serious but is also seriously fun.  SJP Rosé is full bodied with great complexity and elegance, delicious on its own or with a range of cuisine.

Invivo X, SJP Rosé – the second release in the Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Wine Collaboration – comes from the South of France and has been crafted in partnership with a family estate from Provence, Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP) and Invivo.

 

Winemaking

 

The Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Rosé is all about expressing the very best of the Provence vineyards we source from.  With this comes cutting‑edge technology and a ton of winemaking experience.  We also try to be as sustainable as possible, with the winery almost entirely run on solar energy.

 

We harvest only at night when the heat of the vineyard is at its lowest.  The fruit is a mix of machine and hand harvested – machine in certain sites to ensure the shortest possible time from vine to press.

 

As the fruit is received at the winery it undergoes the revolutionary ‘optical sorting’ process – where the berries are put through the de‑stemmer and on the way to the press, pass on a conveyor where a computer visually assesses each berry.  If the berry is not of optimum integrity, a microjet of air will remove the damaged or faulty berry from the sort!  This guarantees only the cleanest, most perfect fruit make it into this wine.

 

From here the fruit enters the press to be gently squeezed under 100% inert nitrogen gas and finally into tank for settling and fermentation.  We use a range of yeasts designed to maximise aromatic intensity but also retain mineral freshness and the wine is minimally treated on its way to bottle.

 

Terroir

 

The grapes come from a vineyard in Provence on a family estate “Vins Chevron Villette” located in the famous ‘Golden Triangle’, situated in Saint Tropez, inland between Puget-Ville, Les Arcs and Le Thoronet Abbey, which was built in the late twelfth and early thirteenth century.  The Invivo X, SJP Rosé is all about expressing the very best of these Provence vineyards that Invivo notoriously sources from.  With cutting-edge technology and a ton of winemaking experience, the vineyard also strives to be eco-friendly by running the winery almost entirely on solar energy.

 

History

 

Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc is created with New Zealand-based Invivo Wines, in what Parker describes as a very collaborative process.  The collaboration covers every aspect of the new wine, from naming and label design to the winemaking itself.  Invivo winemaker Rob Cameron explains:  “This wine is 100% Sarah Jessica Parker.  So other than selecting the base wine from New Zealand (Sauvignon Blanc) I’ll be taking a back seat and letting her create the blends.

The final blend was selected by SJP and Invivo over an afternoon of tasting and assessing.  Sarah Jessica was naturally instrumental in both naming the wine and designing the label.

 

 

Invivo & Co

 

Invivo & Co’s story began when the two of us – Rob and Tim – got together in a bar in London to talk wine.  How to make it better.  How to cut through the fluff that the traditional wine companies seem to love so much.  We always believed in the power of a strong brand, so we decided then and there to build a business that let us create one and have fun along the way.  And you know what?  It worked.

In 2014 we launched a Sauvignon Blanc with legendary TV megastar Graham Norton after we learned he was a fan of Sauvignon Blanc and our wine.  This quickly expanded into a multiple-award winning range, which includes Rose, Prosecco, Shiraz, and Gin. 

 

In 2019 were launched a wine collaboration with New York icon Sarah Jessica Parker!  Following months of discussions, time in New York and a wine tasting with Sarah Jessica, we launched the Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc 2019 from Marlborough.  The wine has won a slew of awards and accolades – visit SJPxInvivo for more details – and stay tuned for the release of our Invivo X, SJP Rosé.
