The 300 year old Blue Bent Oak on the label symbolizes our determination to produce sustainably farmed, single-vineyard wines of distinction and character. The Langtry Cabernet Sauvignon was produced from the high-elevation Tephra Ridge Vineyard. Perched on a mountainside located at 1,700 feet, this premier vineyard has thin, gravelly, volcanic soils that create wines with intense aromas, structure and longevity.
Barrel selected, our Tephra Ridge Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is the best of the best Cabernet on our property.

Tasting Notes
The Tephra Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon has notes of blackberry, red currants, tobacco and is earth driven. This wine has silky tannins layered with bright red fruit and baking spices with a smooth finish.

Vineyard Notes
Tephra ("ash" in Greek) is rock ejected by volcanic eruption. This steep, 35 acre historic vineyard rises to 1,800 feet in elevation at the north foothill of Howell Mountain. Its thin, gravelly loam and volcanic soils typify the finest Bordeaux variety sites, as do its climate, topography and vegetation - fir, madrone, black oak and ponderosa pine - yielding a rustic fruit profile.
The Tephra Ridge Vineyard is located within the Lake County AVA and within proximity to the southern boundary of Langtry Farms. The high elevation (1,600 feet) vineyard is 33 acres and is planted to Cabernet, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
The Tephra Ridge Vineyard produces exceptionally high quality fruit as a result of its high elevation and well drained Tufa soils (volcanic ash). The steeper terrain of Tephra Ridge Vineyard provides for robust air movement limiting frost pressure and improved air circulation to control humidity. Foley Family Wines assist the Langtry Farms management team in executing the viticultural practices for this vineyard.

Langtry Farms
History of Langtry Farms and Lillie Langtry
Lillie Langtry, née Emilie Charlotte Le Breton was a famous actress and socialite during the 19th century. She was born on the British Island of Jersey in 1853. Lillie was one of seven of the Dean of Jersey’s children and his only daughter. Although she never received a formal education, Lillie went on to have a successful acting career. She starred in many plays in England and the United States. In 1888, Lillie purchased 4,200 acres of land in California that would become Langtry Farms.
Winemaking
We strive to guide each single vineyard wine to its purest expression. Each wine showcases the best qualities the vineyard has to offer, from Chardonnay produced in the heart of Guenoc Valley, to bold terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon grown at the highest elevations. Our minimalistic winemaking style allows us to craft wines of distinction that are a unique interpretation of the wide range of our vineyard soil profiles, micro-climates, and varietals.
