One-hundred percent barrel fermented and aged for eight months in French oak barrels (32% new), the 2018 Chardonnay Mannequin offers spiced apples and poached pears notions with nuances of baking bread, toasted almonds and honeycomb. Full-bodied, the palate reveals expressive apple and pears flavors with a satiny texture and plenty of baking spices coming through on the finish. 13,701 cases were made. Lisa Perrotti-Brown
Orin Swift Mannequin Chardonnay 2018
Ubiquitous across California, Chardonnay comes in countless forms - from your mom’s butter-bomb to the acid-forward wines of late. Versatile and accessible, it exists at every price point for every type of wine drinker. At Orin Swift, we try to overdeliver on all wines but with Mannequin, we attempted to do the same but also capture what has made the varietal popular in the past and currently. The 2018 vintage was bountiful across the board which allowed us the ‘pick of the litter’, blending together a wine that encapsulates our conception of Chardonnay - not too oaky and with a nice frame of acidity for enjoyment now and for many years.
Orin Swift Mannequin Chardonnay sources fruit from all over, including the cool Sonoma Coast and the Russian River Valley, to produce a balanced Chardonnay that is representative of the differing regions in California. Pale gold in the glass, opulent aromatics of Meyer lemon, vanilla, and sweet oak. The layered palate is replete with ripe stone fruit, melon, lemon curd and hints of roasted almond. The finish is long and rich with a tapering young coconut flavor.
Winemaker’s Notes
A lurid straw gold, the aromatics abound with bright lemon, butterscotch, honeysuckle and jasmine, with hints of Granny Smith apple, fresh butter and lime zest. Rich and layered upon entry, the palate espouses honeydew, yellow peach, vanilla with a lush, weighty viscosity. A vein of acidity is present through the finish with a pleasing close of minerality and lemon pith.
Composition: 100% Chardonnay
Maturation: Aged in 32% new French oak sur lie for 8 months

Orin Swift Cellars
The history of Orin Swift Cellars dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A few more years of university led to graduation and eventually a job at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 as a temporary harvest worker. Deciding that if he was going to work this hard, it would eventually have to be for himself, so in 1998 he founded Orin Swift Cellars; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. With two tons of zinfandel and not much else, he spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and grew the brand to what it is today.
