Tasting Notes

 

100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes offer attractive aromas of stone fruit and guava with notes of fresh herbs.

 

Color:  Pale lemon in color.

 

Nose:  Lifted notes of citrus blossom and passion fruit with aromas of fresh herbs and lemon zest.

 

Taste:  The palate is brimming with zingy tropical fruit balanced with a long, crisp, mineral finish.

 

Alcohol:  13.0

Vinification

 

Carefully selected parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from Awatere and Wairau

Valley vineyards were used to craft this wine over a period of 18 days.  At the winery, the fruit was destemmed and gently pressed.  The juice was cold settled for 72 hours, then

fermented separately in stainless steel to capture and enhance the fruit flavors.

Yealands’ Seaview Vineyard – one of the most coastal vineyards in New Zealand - is located in the Awatere Valley.  Comprised of 133 vineyards blocks on 1,000 hectares (2,471 acres), Seaview produces thick-skinned small berries with rich and intense flavors.

Sustainable Winemaking in New Zealand

 

Yealands believes in sustainable winemaking and creating thoughtfully crafted wines that work in harmony with their landscape.  Based in the Awatere Valley – the southernmost, coolest and driest of Marlborough's growing regions – Yealands is one of only a handful of wineries around the world to be certified as carbon neutral and the first-ever to be certified from its inception in 2008.

 

Sustainability is the foundation of Yealands Wines, with an ultimate goal to generate enough energy to become self sufficient.  Yealands is the first winery in the world to be certified as carboNZeroCertTM since inception in 2008.  To leave the land better than they found it, Yealands actively pursues a wide range of initiatives and on-going projects in both the vineyard and the winery, including the installation of New Zealand’s largest solar panel, reducing emissions by using Babydoll sheep as lawnmowers, using chickens and wildflowers for spray-free pest elimination, and establishing wetlands for biodiversity.  Chief Winemaker Natalie Christensen has been with Yealands since 2015 and was named one of the “World’s Most Influential Women in Wine” by The Drinks Business in 2018.
