Bright and well-delineated, exuding cherry, strawberry, rose and earth flavors. Turns firm and tightly wound from midpalate through the finish, showing the austerity of the vintage. There is plenty here, but this just needs time. Best from 2026 through 2045.
Rated 92 Points by James Suckling
Plenty of dried flowers with spices such as cloves and dried lavender. Strawberry and orange peel. Medium-bodied with firm and racy tannins and a fresh and firm finish. A little tight and lean. Should soften and open with time.
Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo DOCG LUDO 2019
It is the only classic Barolo in production, the name Ludo comes from the Latin name “ludus” which translated means “game” precisely because it was produced using different sub-zones.
Tasting Notes
Bright red color slightly amber over time, exuberant in the scent of fruit and spices, full-bodied, full and velvety with a long finish of tar and spices.
Food Pairings
Our Baroli pair well with roasts, braised meats, fillets, pasta with complex sauces and medium-aged cheeses.

Winery production: 400,000 Bottles
Region: Piedmont
Luigi Einaudi, the historic founder of the winery that bears his name, as well as being the first democratically elected President of the Republic. He decided in 1915 to create a cellar to produce and bottle wine, rather than just selling the grapes. He at once began to buy vineyards that enjoyed a particular position, exposure and soil quality in order to produce the best wines.
Einaudi’s family kept many country traditions alive, leaving the running of the estates, for example, to the families who had always lived in the farmhouses. After Luigi Einaudi, the company was led by his second child Roberto, born in Dogliani. At the end of the 1980s, Paola, Roberto’s daughter, left her job in Milan and moved to Dogliani, together with Giorgio Ruffo, her lifelong companion.
Today, it is Matteo Sardagna Einaudi, Paola’s son, who is at the helm of the company. He was educated at a Steinerian school and graduated in architecture.
