Alvarinho is the noblest Portuguese white grape variety which finds in the Melgaco Region, the ideal terroir to express all is best.  This wine region is located further north of Portugal with granitic soils at average altitude of 150 meters and protected from the strong Atlantic winds.

Taste:  Full-bodied wine with volume in the mouth and a lot of freshness.

 

Very complex wine with great balance and style.  This rich concentrated wine, is packed with intense aromas of citrus, apple, pear and floral scents with a tropical background.  The palate is full-bodied and voluminous, with a fresh and vibrant acidity and great minerality.

Quinta Do Regueiro

 

It was in 1988, in the northernmost point of Portugal, in the heart of Monção and Melgaço, the excellence territory of the Vinhos Verdes, that the history of Quinta do Regueiro began.

 

Located in Côto, Alvaredo, Melgaço, this family company took its first steps with the plantation of the first 3 hectares of 100% Alvarinho vines.

 

The years that followed were times of learning, growth, and a lot of dedication.  The harvests and production of wine for own consumption soon began to surprise and show its unique character.

 

It was a slow process, which made it possible to observe the specificities of the vineyard, giving time to time, and making the project sustainable.

 

In 1999, at the turn of the century, the Quinta do Regueiro brand was registered and the first harvest was launched on the market.

 

For this important step was fundamental the vision and drive of the owners' son, Paulo Cerdeira Rodrigues, who was 23 years old at the time.  He now sees his dream of becoming a winemaker fulfilled.  This dream was fueled by his passion for wine and dedication to the vineyard. 

 

Ten years later the company Quinta do Regueiro, Produtor de Alvarinho Ldª is created, a family society with two brothers, Paulo Cerdeira Rodrigues and Anabela Cerdeira Rodrigues.

 

Today, the company gathers a set of small terraced plots, occupying an area of 12 ha of vineyard, of which, 6 ha are own vineyards and 6 ha are rented vineyards.

 

These vineyards produce about 170,000 bottles for the national and international markets.

Internally, Quinta do Regueiro has a good presence practically all over the country.  Madeira and Lisbon are the strongest markets.

 

Beyond borders are the USA, Germany, the UK, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Brazil.

 

2019

 

With pride in a path marked by consistency and evolution, in 2019 Jurássico is launched.  It is a wine produced to mark the 20 years of the company.

 

With 10 years aging in stainless steel and two years in bottle, this wine was born as if by accident.  With a production of 1900 bottles, it ended up making a sensation and was  Awarded as the Best National White Wine 2019, by Revista de Vinhos (Wine Magazine)

 

In the same year, Quinta do Regueiro Barricas, was also awarded the same title - Best National White Wine 2019 - this time by the wine magazine Grandes Escolhas.  Alongside these awards, the company was awarded Best Producer of the Year 2019.

 

Goal for the future?  To continue innovating and experimenting, always honoring the legacy left by the family and the territory that provides the ideal characteristics for the creation of these nectars.
