The wines of Montefalco Tradition
We have believed in the value of tradition for 40 years, and we convey it in our Montefalco wines.
Romanelli Capo De Casa 2018
Montefalco D.O.C.
“The Boss of The House!”
“Capo de Casa” recalls the vocation of an everyday wine of the territory, one that was historically made from the varieties in the field and still accompanies family evenings and the passing of the seasons. If Sagrantino represents the structure, energy and longevity of Montefalco wines, the Rosso is the one that most tells the story of the everyday life of our work. It is a balanced and dynamic wine, as fresh as it is capable of intense depth. A wine that is made from a blend of Sangiovese with a small proportion of other varieties typical of the area, all grapes coming exclusively from our Colle San Clemente vineyards. Vinification takes place in steel and maturation in different types of jars, depending on the vineyard of origin, for at least 18 months.

Romanelli
Winery in Montefalco
"The wine and oil we produce testify to the excellence of the unique and unrepeatable qualities of the soils, plants, and microclimates that interact in our ecosystem. This is why we practice agriculture that is attentive to the needs of the land. Our products express our history, our territory and our work.”
Grechetto, Trebbiano Spoletino, Montefalco Rosso, Montefalco Sagrantino: wines born out of love for the land
Azienda Agricola Romanelli was founded in 1978 in Montefalco, in the heart of Umbria’s most important wine region. The family-run farm has been cultivating 30 hectares of property, 8 of vineyards and 12 of olive groves, on Colle San Clemente for more than 40 years, entirely organically.
A Three-Generation History
Since the late 1970s, the Romanelli family has been passionately cultivating its bond with the territory of Montefalco and its fruits. A history whose roots go back in time and whose branches are always ready for new projects to blossom.
It was 1978 when Amedeo and Costantino Romanelli, father and son, chose to devote themselves to agriculture, founding a farm in the heart of Umbria, in Montefalco’s Colle San Clemente. Alongside them are their wives Anna Maria and Anna Rita and sons Devis and Fabio who grew up in close contact with nature. For more than 40 years, the bond with the land has blended with family ties, resulting in unique and inimitable products. Today, three generations combine their know-how and personalities to run the farm's business with passion.
Sustainable Winegrowing
Our Philosophy
In defense of biodiversity, environment and sustainability
We have been practicing only organic fertilization of our vineyards and olive groves for years: we treat them with care in accordance with viticultural sustainability, practicing late harvests and low yields, grassing between rows and proper canopy management according to different vineyards. We reject the use of chemical fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides because we firmly believe that a pristine environment gives healthy plants and excellent fruit.
Our attention to the soil positively affects the proper and balanced nutrition of crops, but also the entire ecosystem of the farm; in fact, the benefit also spills over to groundwater and wildlife.
“We are aware that the environment is and always will be the most important resource we have, crucial to our survival and that of all that lives near us, which must be safeguarded by using low-impact farming practices.”
Our Vineyards
Our vineyards are located on Colle San Clemente, a complex of soils with a predominantly clay and limestone matrix whose plots show significant differences even a few hundred meters apart. We decided to make it our strong point: every day we adapt production methods to the peculiarities of the individual plots, obtaining high quality products from every single bunch.
