Rated 93 Points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Poggio Rosso is packed with intensity and dark fruit that peels back in thick layers. The wine ferments on the skins for up to 25 days followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak for 20 months. It sees another 15 months in bottle before its commercial release. This is a robust and thickly textured expression of 100% Sangiovese that opens to inky garnet saturation. This wine is tight at its core but is well padded with generous layers of dark fruit and plum. It needs a few more years to relax and shed some of that youthful, nervous tension. This is a wine that could easily be put aside for another five years of cellar aging. Monica Larner, October 31, 2017
Rated 93 Points by James Suckling
"This is a big and linear Chianti Classico with plenty of structure and depth. Chocolate, walnut and berry character. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish."
Rated 92 Points by Wine Spectator
Plum, cherry, leather, tobacco and graphite flavors align with sinewy tannins in this red. Remains bright and focused, with sweet fruit playing off the dusty tannins on the long aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2028. Bruce Sanderson, September 30, 2017

Agricola San Felice
“The estate is situated in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, near Siena, in other words, right in the heart of the Chianti Classico territory. With over 140 hectares of specialized vineyard, about 17,000 olive trees, the majority of the experimental plantations, the Vitiarium, the cellar and the village with its prestigious hotel complex, San Felice is a rare, not to say unique, blend of production, science, tourism and culture”
“The San Felice estate covers an area of more than 650 hectares in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, at an altitude of about 400 metres above sea level. The perfect combination of soil and microclimate, together with the wide temperature range, create the ideal conditions for producing truly irrepeatable wines and oils. To accentuate the distinctive characteristics of each vineyard, we divided the area into different zones in the 1990s. We identified five macro-areas, and planted the grape varieties best-suited to the soil and geography of each.”
