This is a well-made red, blended with 13% Merlot as well as small percentages of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.  Thick and concentrated, it develops in the glass to show a nice refinement of woody oak, dried herb, cedar and black cherry, offering great value and wide appeal.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is based on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and the rest Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc.  It’s an outstanding wine, offering old school, complex notes of dried herbs, leather, spice box, and both red and black fruits in a charming, medium-bodied, balanced, satisfying style.  Drink it over the coming 10-12 years or more.

The 2019 Bella Union Napa Valley Cabernet possesses beautiful and intriguing aromas of dark plum, black cherry, hints of clove and barrel spice.  The palate is well-structured with velvety tannins complemented by generous layers of fruit flavors of blackberry, fig and raspberry preserves that give way to a melting finish.

 

Blend:  75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc

The Art of Blending Superior Wine in Napa Valley

 

Bella Union specializes in the art of blending Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.  It was founded in 2012 by the partners of Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel, who, for more than 30 years, have been growing, making and enjoying Napa Valley Cabernet.  Bella Union is the natural next step in our evolution as Cabernet winemakers.

 

The winery is located on a 25-acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard along Bella Oaks Lane, a storied Cabernet growing area in the heart of Rutherford.  The name, Bella Union, is a nod to the history of Bella Oaks Lane, which was known as the Bella Union Roadway in the 1880s.  At that time, the country lane led into the Mayacamas Mountains and eventually to the Bella Union Mining Company.
