Castello d'Alba Douro Tinto 2019
The Castello d'Alba Tinto is a blend of 50% Touriga Franca, 30% Tinta Roriz and 20% Touriga Nacional grown on the schist soils of Douro Superior at altitude of 400 meters. All grapes are hand-harvested, fully destemmed and fermented and aged in stainless steel. Lovely red fruit aromas with a rocky earthiness waft from the glass. On the palate there is a very elegant and discreet minerality with great concentration of berries and spice with a long finish. Enjoy with strong meat dishes, game or firm cheeses.

Rui Roboredo Madeira
Rui Roboredo Madeira grew up in the Douro Valley, surrounded by vineyards. In 1987 Roboredo worked his first harvest in the village of Vermiosa. In 2011 he returned to this village in Beira Interior subregion of the Douro Valley where he rehabilitated an old vineyard and released his first vintage of Castell d'Alba: a wine that he believed is a hidden treasures of Portugal. He specializes in old-vines of native grape varieties grown in the high altitudes and schist and granite soils of the Douro region.
Rui Roboredo Madeira is a jack of all trades in Portuguese viticulture. He acts as a consultant at various wineries or is the owner of the wineries. From simple fresh aperitif wines to profound, complex and long-lasting red wines, he shows off his skills.
"In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, in the border area between Douro Superior and Beira Alta, I was born to a family full of passion for the flavors and smells of this land that shape our character."
"After coming into contact with many cultures of life and winemaking in different parts of the world, I returned to the great Douro Valley, convinced that we have the potential to make some of the best wines in the world. In respect of nature, for the way we cultivate our vineyards, my wines reflect my experiences, the smell and taste of my land, the slate, the damp granite, the rock rose, the flowers and fruits of the field. In my winery, I make wines with the character of our “terroir”, expressed by the local grape varieties, on which I impose my own style and an international profile."
