Rated 89 Points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Minas is mostly a 40/30 blend of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, with 10% each of Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Tinta Francisca, partly (60%) aged for nine months in well-used French oak. It comes in at 12.8% alcohol. A nice value, this isn't meant to be as concentrated and as powerful as some of the upper-level wines, but it has a wonderfully fresh and fruity feel. The freshness gives it a delightfully juicy finish. This lively red is quite nice this year.
Quinta Dos Murcas Minas Red 2018
Quinta dos Murças Minas vineyards are located at altitudes between 110m (360 ft) and 300m (985 ft). South-facing, there are five water springs (in portuguese, ‘minas’) that help to cool the area and influence the vineyard’s terroir. This is an elegant wine, with a balance of ripe fruit and the characteristic freshness of Quinta dos Murças.

Vintage 2018
This was another atypical year in the Douro. Winter was cold and dry, Spring was cold and very rainy, and Summer, initially cold and rainy, then turned hot and extremely dry, marked by effects of sunstroke and dehydration at the beginning of August. This unstable climate had a substancial impact on the decline in production. Ripening occurred later than usual; therefore we only began to harvest Minas vineyards on 18th of September. The grapes presented very good acidity, resulting in fresh, aromatic and elegant wines.
Soil Type: Schist
Vine Age: The oldest vines were planted in 1987 and the most recent in 2011
Quinta Dos Murças
Diversity – Verticality – Elegance
Located in the center of DOC Douro, it is characterized for its 8 terroirs, very marked by mountains, different altitudes and sun exposures, schist soils and the characteristic climate of the Douro valley. In the vineyards dozens of indigenous grape varieties were planted, according to Organic Production and Integrated Production. The olive, orange, almond and Mediterranean forests help maintain the balance of the ecosystem.
