Tasting Notes
The 2019 Crossroads Cabernet Sauvignon is energetic, lively, and bursting to show you everything it has to offer. This vintage expression of Cabernet Sauvignon fills your nose with black cherries, dark cocoa nib, and a hint of baked sweetness. These familiar aromas from the Oakville Estate are also found on the first sip, with a pop of ripe plum and savory cooking herbs that are reminiscent of the fresh outdoors on a trek through the Tahoe mountains. That combination of luscious fruit and fresh herbs is completed by the plush, velvety tannins on the finish. With every sip, the 2019 Crossroads Cabernet Sauvignon shows how a well-crafted companion wine should taste — balanced, structured, and unbelievably delicious.
Winemaker Notes
Grown in the heart of Oakville from 20-year-old vines, the structure and tannins of this Cabernet Sauvignon are synonymous with vineyards in Eastern Oakville. The complex fruit profiles available in the vineyard along with diverse sun exposure allows the vineyard team to pick lots to specifically make this style of wine. A true expression of the terroir, the red fruit, dried herbs, and rosemary characteristics take the forefront, making this a beautiful wine upon release.
Organically & Biodynamically Farmed
We believe the most important decisions made each year start in the vineyards. With that in mind, our Oakville and Mt. Veeder Estates are farmed organically and biodynamically with the long-term outlook on sustainability and stewardship of our land.
Our wines are a true reflection of the place, people, and practices of Rudd Estate - the same attention to detail goes into each bottle of Crossroads wines.
The 2019 Growing Season
After a perfect 2018 growing season, we did not know what to expect from Mother Nature in 2019, but she did not disappoint! The beginning of the 2019 growing season had plenty of rainfall, followed by a long, warm summer that offered few extreme heat events and ample foggy mornings. The long, relatively mild finish to the season helped preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon harvest started at the Oakville Estate on September 25th with our last picks coming in mid-October. This gradual growing season allowed for abundant hang time providing us with great color, structure, and plush tannins.
